ROAD TRIP!

STATES VISITED 15 Half the fun of a road trip is seeing new things, new places, and for me, new signs by the side of the road. This site lists many of the highways on which I and my family have driven, including every Interstate highway, with some of the highlights of each trip and other details. It's being added to, so be patient!

The highways we've traveled are organized into three groups. Interstate highways are displayed together, as are US highways, from the fifteen (and counting) states we've visited. To change from one grouping to another, just click the icon in the menu above. To see details of our trips on that highway, click its shield in the list. You can come back to this page any time by clicking the Back to Top sign on any page.

The cities listed for each highway are the extreme opposite ends of the highway where I have driven. It doesn't mean I drove continuously from, say Lake City to New Orleans on I-10, it means that on one trip I drove inward from Lake City, and on another, inward from New Orleans, without necessarily hitting all the points in between.

Some segments are listed as "under construction." These are areas on which I have planned trips but haven't yet taken them. Those plans are definite and will occur within the next month or so, otherwise I could just as easily list the entire Interstate system...

I've tried to list each road trip separately headed by each state visited during the ride along that highway. Some overlap, and some take as many as four states. Gaps among states usually mean that I drove the sections on separate trips, or let someone else do the driving for that stretch.

There are a couple of different interstates, in different states, that I have driven on which have the same number, for example, the two I-595s. I have listed these separately, and noted which state was which. If I've driven on the same highway in different states, for example, I-95 in five different states, the highway is listed once with each trip broken out.

What's New?

September 23, 2003: Major overhaul!

July 2, 2002: Added this past weekend's road trip to Huntsville, Alabama.

June 9, 2002: I took out some of the JavaScript tricks like the light-up images. The reason was that I didn't think they added that much to the site overall, and with server space and bandwidth at a premium it seemed like they were easy choices to sacrifice. I'm going to be adding a new feature where you build your own trip log before very long, so look for it.
